Who are We?
The PEI Rural Alliance members are foremost Islanders; our membership is made up of islanders of all ages, representing the economic diversity and skills of people living and working in the rural communities of Prince Edward Island.
What do we Believe?
-
We believe that rural Prince Edward Island is an integral part of the very fabric of Prince Edward Island.
-
We believe that the challenges being faced by PEI today are just that - challenges - not the impossible or insurmountable tasks that many in government would have us believe.
-
We believe that we are entitled to honest, competent leadership from our elected officials with leadership encompassing the accepted Webster’s definition of the term, not the political one.
-
We believe in cooperation between our communities and industries to find solutions to the problems facing us.
-
We believe that solutions do exist for the challenges facing our island and that government must develop a “can do” attitude refocusing its efforts toward finding and implementing real solutions to the concerns regarding our island as a whole.
-
We believe that the recent examples of poor governance in the areas of education and health care has shown the overwhelming need for the government to hear a voice from rural islanders.
What is our Mandate?
As a non-political group, we represent rural islanders offering ideas and suggestions to improve, repair and grow the island way of life in a changing world economy
What is our Vision?
-
An education system with measurable achievement which will be the envy of Canada -
A managed efficient health care system working to ensure islanders are receiving the health care they are paying for -
The development and sustainability of the primary resources of Prince Edward Island, including but not limited to, farming, fishing, and aquaculture
